I could turn the volume down and it would stay down while I held the button but when I released it it went back to 100% I tried that and it did exactly the same thing. Someone had posted that they had a sound control along the side of their computer and when they pressed it it changed the volume but it immediately went back to 100%. I did some research on the web with using the phrase "On screen audio control stuck on screen" and found a good thread.

Updated/changed the audio driver to the High Definition Audio Driver but the symptoms did not change. Working the manual volume slider down near the lower right corner of the screen shows th same effect of always returning to full volume. Pull it down and it automatically goes to full volume. After your message I tried the volume up/down keys and slider and it basically does the same thing.
